Welcome to Bloodhound Ironworks! We are an artisan blacksmith shop located near Sackville, NB. Avery has spent over a decade learning the art of blacksmithing from various mentors. We have a passion for custom iron and take on every project from simple welding repair, production items like, custom knife creation and sharpening services to custom wrought iron, gates and railings. With a wide range of skills and tools we can complete any project with traditional techniques and tools to complete any project that meets our clients needs.

Avery first became interested in ironworking when we was a young boy, he would

spend time in his fathers shop learning how to weld, cut and shape metal for all manners of farm repair, and fence building. Later he went on to Nipissing University where he received his Bachelors of Science, Biology, where he wanted to continue to work with animals. After he finished his degree, he took a job working in the construction renovations trade, building high end homes. While he worked construction he sought out to learn the Farrier trade to fulfil his desire to work with animals. This is where he began learning the art of blacksmithing and practicing the art of forging steel. From there he quickly realized his passion was purely for the working of the metal and less about the horses. Pursing a career as an artisan blacksmith, he focused on creating custom projects for the home and garden, starting with smaller items like hooks and chisels. As he learned how to produce more intricate and detailed projects, his interests in traditional and heritage work expanded.

With a background in construction we build all of our projects to meet all available building codes and safety restrictions. It is our goal to produce the finest quality ironwork!

Fun Fact: Bloodhound Ironworks name originates from our love for our dog, who is immortalized as our mascot. When he's not sawing logs outside of the shop, he's off tracking whatever his nose fancies.
